The story had promise but failed on execution. Repetitive, jarring and unsure whether it wants to read like a classic or a penny dreadful. At least 5hours too long. I guessed the big reveal from early on but couldn’t believe it could be so simplistic after all the rigmarole so I went on.
Nothing scary about it. Maybe because it was so badly written the horrific bits were diluted. But if nothing else you can entertain yourself by taking a shot every time he mentions CICADAS. you’ll be drunk by mid- novel.
