I know the main character is young, but he lacks any form of common sense. To the point where the story become obvious based on his reactions. Is he feeling confident? Then something horrible is about to happen. Is he sure about something? Then he’s probably wrong.
The world is pretty interesting, but it’s like we’re following the perspective of a 10 year old. Worse yet, we’re told he’s got high intelligence … something thats said more than it’s shown. it’s absolutely frustrating and I’m not sure I can last through the sequels.
