This is definitely a dark bully romance at heart, that takes place at Corium University. Corium University is in Alaska and trains the elite to excel in the crimal underworld. I admit, I read Scarlet’s story first. Scarlet is Quinton’s younger sister. This is a enemies to lovers, mafia, dark romance, antihero, college romance, and bully romance. If you don’t enjoy darker bully novels, don’t read this, because there isn’t much romantic about it. Aspen’s father snitched and sold out the mafia. Now, Aspen’s father is in prison and she has been sent to Corium for her safety. Right off the bat, Aspen is labeled as a rat and she finds out no one will help her. Quinton bargains with Aspen, sex for protecting her against certain people. Aspen does not go into this bargain willingly. Quinton has his own issues. Quinton’s father is the person Aspen’s father betrayed. Quinton is broody, dark, and needs to be in control. Quinton and Aspen have a lot of chemistry. At first, it does start off as hate, I think. Then, their relationship starts to change at some point. The only thing I didn’t like was that Aspen was so weak, she never fights back. I do understand why it needs to be that way because I’ve read all of the books. I just wish Aspen’s character had more fight. Overall, how much fun is it to bully someone who never fights back? Since this is book 1 in a series, this book ends unresolved.
