This was an interesting read on a post apocalyptic society. The series was focused on rape, sex, human trafficking, drugs, and guns. There was more background on the types of guns and ammo than on character build-up. The background on humans being good versus bad seemed naive – people were either good or evil with no in-between.
The series did keep me interested, but not captivated. The performance reminded me of a grandpa telling a story (but not to children, obviously). It was dry, but I found it enhanced the story.
This particular book in the series was kind of choppy and hard to follow. Parts were highly focused on the events happening and events around that event. Then it would fast forward years in a confusing way. The ending left a lot hanging and wasn’t satisfying.
