I loved the Borrowed World series, so I thought I would give this a try. This seems short and simple by comparison. I haven’t written a book, but this isn’t the author’s best work.
Spoiler alert. It is hard to believe that the father would have gone to such great lengths and expense to prep his daughter 600 miles from home so she could go to a school in Northern MS. In addition, he should have included body armor and night vision. The Zoe character was obviously written to contrast the protagonist against, but daddy didn’t include her in the plan enough to have an empty ruck and a spare pistol? They were lifelong best friends as well as roommates and Zoe didn’t have a basic knowledge of survivalism?
