I lasted for 7 hours and 22 minutes. That’s how long it took me to throw in the towel. It would have been sooner, but I was sure that something would happened…it never did. Absolutely nothing happened. Where should I start?
1) I expected multiple books of each brother, but it seems that the next book is going to be the same main characters which is sad bc this book had zero plot or story, or even any real character progression. Yes, you kinda knew who the were as characters, but the point of the novel? The story? Zero idea of what that is. It was boring.
2) After 7 hours I expected the truth to at least have arrived, but we only got the male leads (can’t even remember his name) constant back and forth. Yes, I wanted bully, but with bully comes childish decisions and it really does irk me. He had 7 hours to simply ask her if she was sleeping with his dad. He had 7 hours to actually do something about his predicament. Oh, what predicament, you ask? The one where he is sexually attracted to his fathers supposed teenage mistress. The one who is actually was about to sleep with. Like ffs, you’re willing to bang her in a classroom, but can’t ask a simple question? Stories like these gives me a headache. 7.5 hours!!!!
3) Blue is about to be set up for a lifetime of toxic relationships and bad decisions. She’s not my favourite character bc she just takes whatever these people throw at her. Why can’t she love with the uncle? Why can’t she file for emancipation? Why is she living in that house? Why haven’t you heeded your brothers warning WITHOUT QUESTION like he asked?
4) The gossip girl reference with the “P” narrator that sounds exactly like the FMC was ridiculous and again proved that this book is for young adults. It’s a YA novel. I’m too old for YA.
5) the narrators. All were terrible. The mmc was just nasally and old, he was just…all wrong, but the girl narrator? My goddess, her inflections were by far the worst. This was a very hard listen. Also, why have 3 narrators when one girl could have done both voices? They literally sound exactly the same. They are the same, can’t tell me different,
I’m going to stick to my normal genre. I tried to branch out, but I’m not doing that again.
Also, if you’re looking for spicy this is not it. Pass.
