Wow! This retelling/’sequel’ to Alice in Wonderland was very good. It’s a curious mix of a fairytale world and now – we get to see what happened to Wonderland when Alice left ‘Through the Looking Glass’ and how she is now. The Mad Hatter is in prison, the Red Queen is an absolute pill and Wonderland is not a happy place. The story is entertaining with a few twists, not the least of which is (Henry) Boy Alice – I love that name!
I have to say that I am so glad I was given a chance to listen to the audiobook. Joel Leslie is nothing short of perfect! I am convinced that he has several different people living inside him. He captured all the voices better than I could ever have hoped for! I cannot describe how freaking perfect his performance is – Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Red Queen, ALL the characters were superbly characterised. All I can do is highly recommend this audio opera, because that’s what this really is, a one-man opera 🙂
