I wanted to like it, but… This book was difficult to follow in a lot of respects, which may have been due to the unfortunate performance. The variety of narrators was distracting, and made the story feel very disjointed. I appreciate that Audible was trying to provide authenticity and realism by providing narrators from various backgrounds, but there were so many mispronunciations and lame attempts at performing that I could hardly listen. I just wanted this book to be over.

On the positive side, I did appreciate the factual asides provided by the author throughout the story. However, I do wish that there was more of a story. There were huge gaps and a strange flow to the book. Again, maybe this had to do with the “performance.” But I think the author struggled to tell a “story” that tied in the themes and the characters.
