Let me start by saying Head Like a Hole by Andrew Van Wey is phenomenal. I’m not usually one for slow burns, I’m not sure why, but they take me a while to find the right flow to them. This one was different for me. As a group of high school friends who lost touch after an accident, start to try to come back together and tell one another what really happened, everything goes to hell and then some. Maybe I’m biased since the main character, Megan Monroe, is an artist, too, and is dealing with a lack of inspiration for reasons unknown to her yet. I get that….well to an extent. Her reasons are not what you expect. Andrew has so many 90s music references I even reached out to see if he had a list of them written down because I needed a Playlist made IMMEDIATELY. I appreciate him for actually making one because I asked. The 90s references are fantastic. The ending is not what I expected but exactly what I wanted, and now I’m just sitting here thinking what the heck just happened. In a good way. Head Like a Hole is a unique story that has you asking questions the whole time. I absolutely loved it.

Tom Jordan narrates this story on Audible. For a gentleman with such a calm, soothing voice I was concerned I’d dislike his narration. I was incredibly wrong. Despite the soothing voice, he nailed it. The tension was there when it needed to be. It felt ominous the moments it should. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed his narration.

On a spark of hope, I saw Andrew Van Wey had 10 US codes for his book on Audible. It was posted over a month ago. I decided to ask anyway, and surprisingly he had one code left. Thank you so much Andrew for giving me the opportunity to experience your story. You’re going to get tired of me tagging you on my recommendation list almost daily now.
