Just terrible. He tried to write a scene for scene adaptation but left out two of the interesting subplots from the movie (Charlie gaining faith and Amy looking just like Dandridge’s old love). He added some sprinkles of homophobia (“hardcore lesbians” indeed), casual racism (only mentioned the race of the two black bouncers but never mentioned anyone else’s race), and so much misogyny that was never evident in the movie. It feels like he wrote this book with his hand in his pants half the time. Just go watch the movie. Don’t let this trash tarnish the beautiful nostalgia that is Fright Night.
