The idea of the story is a compelling one, but thats about all the positive I can say about this book. The main character has the total opposite of a development arc, its like a regression arc. Instead of overcoming her flaws or being better/doing good despite her flaws, we see her strong and driven nature literally dissappear into nothingness while basically going through Stockholm syndrome. Her inner dialoge and her actions were THE MOST frustrating contradictions Ive ever read in a book. The sad thing is that nothing ever comes out of it! She sees the bad, the injustice, the horror, she understands its wrong and could potentially do something about it, but oh well, better go along with my abusive husband because that’s what tradition dictates.
