I’ve loved and read all of Lily’s Monster Series but this one wasn’t on KU, so when I heard Joel’s sample at the end of Soul Eater I was hooked and have been waiting for it to come out. Now that the next book is on KU, I’ll definitely be reading it starting right after submitting.
This was excellent, as always, Mayne never flinches from making things realistic and harsh and there are some heartbreaking scenes, and knowing how it end, you think you can handle it, until it gets there and dang. While you know what’s mostly going to happen at the end, it’s written so well that it still feels surprising.
I highly recommend this series and her Monster Series, in book and audio format. Joel and Micheal really bring the stories to life.
