This isn’t a drama-filled book. This is a genuine story about the journey one young woman made from Norway to Reva, South Dakota. I grew up south of Reva, SD so this story was of particular interest to me. Having grown up on the prairie myself, I could picture both forks of the Grand River, the Slim Buttes, and the long wagon ride to Belle Fourche. I could picture the blizzards, feeding the cattle, and the rattlesnakes. To endure a long ocean voyage and then traverse west to a barren, harsh land only to find love and build a family took grit and determination that yielded the most beloved rewards. We also witness that promises can be kept even when life has a hiccup here and there. I can’t wait to read Hoff’s sequel.
