I love Joel Leslie but as it happened with the Black and Blue series, here also, I needed something more from the narration and performance to really bring to life the paranormal bits that I wanted to scare me out of my freaking mind. I may be asking too much, I don’t know, but the spooky vibes are what are making this series special, else it’s just a contemporary romance, no sub-genre needed.

When it comes to the story I loved the start of it but around ch.15 I started flagging. Mainly because I just couldn’t figure out what the point of Ben’s ghost hunting group was. No one was doing any kind of research, they kept holding back paranormal things that were happening from one another and they never called Tom to come and investigate. I get why Will didn’t want to cut Blue’s vacation short but when he was back in York why not call him? Were all of them just going to leave the family to their devices after they proved that there was indeed a poltergeist haunting the home?

Finally Jem and Will’s conversations 95% of the time revolved around the haunting and it felt like their budding romance was third fiddle and didn’t build properly to be convinced about their HEA.

Still I hope we’ll get more time with Blue and Levi in future books.
