What should have been the “best” day of Ruwen’s life turned into the worst as it slipped back into the hard-knock life he’s recently been having. He wanted to be a Mage and clear his families disgrace instead he allocated to join the worker class… and wow, there’s nothing I love better than hard luck stories. Where the underdog has to work harder to get what he wants. And yeah a God intervened giving him a second class, a secret class at the same time to Ascension. But will he use it wisely 🤔? And as AF Kay plays around making every rule a first and the most important. Ruwen has to fight for every stat he gains. The ending was disappointing to say the least and even the epilogue didn’t have a closer. But I still liked the book enough, and questions abound, which outweighed all my reservations so I still plan on jumping into bk2 The Second Betrayal.
And of course Travis Baldree was par excellence!
