All the characters are men. Some are called women, but every character speaks and acts like a man. You could gender swap all the main characters, and it wouldn’t change the book. There is no real emotion, even when it seems as if characters are dead. The author jams in puns and makes sure everyone knows before and after it happens to try to be funny. It wasn’t. it got tiring quickly. I read all 4 books, and it doesn’t really get better. It never felt like the main characters were in any real danger, even in the final book. The narrator is flat and does little to differentiate the characters. It’s meh, don’t waste the credits.
