Kevin Pierce is one of my favorites, and this book starts out like a different version of “The Girl From Locker 9” (which isn’t a horrible thing). It’s pretty much that and, “A Barrowed World”. However, it becomes more and more annoying, the usual over injected “girl power” that springs up gets old. An 18 year old girl bossing around a bunch of marines and everyone else in the community is just ridiculous. The overall story doesn’t really bring anything new to this kind of universe, but it isn’t bad. My only gripe would have to be the Mary Sue that the author has created by book 3 and reaches full power in book 4. It really dispels any amount of realism that could still be gleamed from a series like this.
