A second chance is just what they needed.

I enjoyed Felix and Max’s story. I don’ think these two could have been more opposite, but they somehow made it work, until it didn’t.

Felix was a sweetheart and Max was frustrating. They seemed to have a real connection but Max just couldn’t get past the past. So that was tough on Felix, who tried not to let feelings get involved, but you know how that goes.

We spend a lot of time getting to know them and see them in the “past” and then we jump to the present, where they have a chance to make things right. Well Max has a chance, since he’s the doodoo head that screwed things up for them.

I’m happy that Max saw the error of his ways, and with a little help realized Ivo wasn’t actually his end game. It’s kind of sad he and Felix lost all that time together because Max couldn’t get out of his own head, but I think in the end it was probably good for both of them.

The ending was sweet.

Joel did a fantastic job as usual. I swear there are certain books where I just get lost in the narration and this one was of them. His performance of Max in particular blew me away- there were times I wouldn’t have even known it was Joel, even I didn’t already know it was him narrating the book!
