This is more a story about addiction and recovery for the first half of the book, when it turns into more of a romance. The story does a good job of making you feel compassion for Dawson even when he’s making bad choices. In fact, the Hell’s Ankhor guys seem really harsh at first. His relationship with Nix seems pretty shallow at first, but things develop much more in the second half of the book. It was good that Nix also had flaws and insecurities even though he was much more secure in himself than Dawson was. Nix seemed like he should have been older than in his mid-20s, but that was a minor detail.
