Reading all the reviews, I feel like people love this book or they hate it. I think this book deals with very difficult topics to discuss. It gives me Lolita vibes, but the man isn’t obsessed with her because she’s young and fits his obsession. It is way more tragic than that. They need each other, and the relationship unfortunately becomes very mature for the young protagonist.
I think that good literature should have people divided like the readers in the reviews are. I don’t support pedophilia, obviously. The controversy that surrounds this text leans to the powerfulness of the story. If the story was bad, people would stop reading it.
I usually don’t write reviews, but the story kept me listening. You get to all the ugly, and you hope that there is some good that comes out of it all. Whether you think the outcome of events is good or not is up to you.
