I work 10-hour days so I’m always on the lookout for longer audible books and when I saw this series get mentioned in one of the litrpg fan groups I’m in on Facebook I thought I’d give it a try I only made it halfway through book two.

Story: Normally I’m not a big fan of litrpg books that take place in a videogame like this, they never really build stakes it’s just a game none of the characters are in any danger you know? But I did like the story angle of the MC hiding out in said video game while waiting for the heat to die down it’s not going to change my mind but it was the first time I saw this approach. Like I said I only got halfway through book two I don’t know the whole story but I know enough to know that whatever I’m missing won’t change my mind.

Performance: all the narration is fine Soundbooth theater knows what they are doing though I will say they only have one sound effect for crowds and you will notice it, it does not happen enough to be really annoying but it happens too much.

I wanna take a moment to point out how awful of an MC these books have his character personality is all over the place in a bad way. So without spoiling anything, the MC needs a place to hide for two years he picks the VR game because the company running it has great security his plan is to “have lots of sex, do lots of drugs and drink lots of booze” but his personality is so meek he gets flustered and upset with himself whenever he notices a woman with a nice body, like my guy that’s why you picked the game to hide out in, he also speaks like a redditor.
