I enjoy a good book with a main character I can enjoy following. Well this book has a guy jump into a game world knowing full well it is a game world while knowing NOTHING about games. The character is just sad, literally and figuratively. He is depressed about loss of his wife and uses that as excuse to be a drunkard. Refuses to use the taxi service that killed his wife…. until he uses it anyway.
Okay, I could overlook that, but then he gets into the game and gets insta killed because yeah…. of course the game dumps you in a PvP area within sight of a safe area while being outside it.
Then it goes on to constantly mock new players. So apparently this game is one that encourages “noob” killing. To the point of NPCs mocking new players and supporting the idea that older players rob new players.
The mix of a main character that is too braindead to be likable being tossed into a garbage game world just is too much.
