Twist endings are supposed to be surprising to the characters (and potentially the reader). This wasn’t a twist ending. It was a lie. The first 2 books promised the readers one thing and the third book slapped the readers in the face and pretended it was a clever twist. The author lied to the readers and tried to disguise it as good writing. Sad part is, the writing was actually pretty okay. But there were so many obvious manipulations that it was annoying to follow. And the ending made this book a waste of time. Very unsatisfying.
