Very high quality writing for a shifter book, top tier even. There are parallels with Twilight that are somewhat eyerolly but not necessarily in a bad way? Tropes exist for a reason I guess. MC seemed to have somewhat more agency than Bella Swan at least.
The reader performance was very stilted and flat, I guess because the MC is coded as autistic, but I still didn’t like it. Also disliked the bad southern accents given to certain characters, especially since this largely takes place in Oregon.
