A captivating story that left me wanting more. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure the narration was to my taste, especially during the prologue, but once the story really got going I didn’t notice anymore. I loved how the story switches perspectives between the two main characters so we get both of their thoughts on what’s happening. I was immediately drawn to the child and even found myself siding with her in her frustrations with her mother’s choices ;). I enjoyed the characters and hope to get to see more of the various relationships and learn more about them as the story progresses. The end of this book very much left me hanging and I can’t wait to get book 2 and find out what happens next. I received an audio copy from Story Origins and will be buying the rest if my library doesn’t have them because I need to see/hear how the story ends.
