I’ve seen this Trilogy pop up a couple of times on Facebook. I went ahead and put it into my wish list but didn’t actually pick it up until one of the audible sales. I don’t know nothing about the author nor have I read any of her previous works. I found myself quite some time later with a mountain of work to do and not wanting to do it. I looked into my audiobook library for something that could Aid me in my quest to procrastinate. as it turns out I stumbled across this book still waiting to be listened to. I’ve listened to a lot of performances by Travis baldree and have always enjoyed his work immensely. I’m still relatively new to the cultivation type stories but I decided to go ahead and spin this up. I really did enjoy the story from start to finish. I usually take it easy when reviewing the first book of anything. Beginnings can be shaky Endeavors even for tried and true authors sometimes. our hero is impoverished, taking care of a sick sister, in a dead-end job, and with not much of a way out he gets kicked in the teeth during The Inheritance proceedings after his deadbeat parents pass away. he makes an extraordinarily dangerous choice to join the underground fight scene. there’s some black male, murder attempts, beatings, and a petulant Scion of some Noble House causing him problems. this does appear to be a Trilogy and I’ll be moving on to the next book because this story was really good. I almost choked to death on the April fools bonus chapter. I heard it announced as such but the ridiculous nature of it surprised the hell out of me at an inopportune moment. that reminds me that there was a name of one of the competitors teams that makes me think this author has a tie to another one of the cultivator authors. I’m not sure what the nature of the relationship is as in familial or friends or marriage. anyway, the last thing I’ll say is well done to everybody who’s had a hand in bringing this story to us the audible listeners.
