Azlana is a half-breed, human and Elf, being raised by her human mother but observed by the Elves. To them, she is the future ruler of all the dark species and will lead them to victory and peace. Most of the book takes place after her 10th birthday, and it’s fairly harrowing with death and destruction from all sides. The Alliance is trying to fend off the evil human king and as the war escalates, so does Azlana’s troubles. Ending with a cliff-hanger, it’s not as satisfying as it could be.
