This book is just wow! It’s really like having 2 books in one – part 1 and part 2. Majorca and Venice are their own characters within this love story that is anything but smooth sailing. Wren is a 22 year old former foster child struggling to make ends meet, desperate for family and love. Teo is a 40 year old incredibly wealthy hotelier who grew up with every advantage but has a very toxic family that has coloured his view on relationships and showing emotion in general. They meet by chance in one of Teo’s hotels in Majorca where Wren has vacationed with his childhood friend and his band of rich stuck up mates who all look down on Wren. Ditched in Majorca, Teo offers Wrens a job for the time he is there and they indulge in becoming instant friends and trying hard to deny the strong attraction between them. When the holiday comes to an end, neither are ready to let the other go and Wren accepts Teo’s invitation to return with him to Venice but warns him of the toxicity of his family with whom he lives in a very impressive palazzo. Unfortunately, Wren is not ready for what awaits him there. This is really Lily Morton at her absolute best. Joel Leslie is always a go to narrator for me and he and Lily Morton are an excellent team. He absolutely nails the accents in this book as the characters jump across Europe. A job very well done by him. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this audiobook.
