The story was predictable.
All the stories are somewhat predictable but it’s an excellent space opera the characters are engaging, funny and becoming more and more fleshed out with each novel. However the entire relationship with the ex girlfriend versus the alien captain is just weak. Using the ex girlfriend as a pawn is acceptable. But all of that is understandable. What is not acceptable Is the fact that the ex girlfriend is able to continuously bully her way on to the ship so that she becomes a persistent plot point. I mean let’s face it nobody would let her on a combat vessel she has absolutely nothing to contribute. As much as I tried I just couldn’t get over this obvious plot point and as a result the character felt hollow.
Series is great. I would not skip this book. I have read two more after this already. And highly recommend the first five
