This is about as bog standard as isekai cultivation goes. The MC breaks the 4th wall in places as if to scream “look at me using standard tropes”
Character development is nonexistent, save for 1 side character who joins the MCs gang.
The rules of cultivation are dry and don’t interact with the plot except in the most superficial way.
The arc with the reaper was promising, but ultimately feels more tacked on than a interwoven thread of the story.
On the bright side some of the sensory descriptions are really well done, including details about vomit mixed with sand sticking to the MCs cheek.
Travis’s narration is excellent as always, he redeems the experience by keeping me mentally engaged in the story, where I might otherwise abandon the book.
