I originally read this in print, in my early 20s, in the late 1980s or early 1990s. I’m really glad that I reread it. He had such an interesting life! I’ve read a lot of pilot memoirs, and he had both one of the most interesting aviation careers and one of the most interesting lives in general. Every time I land at Nevada County airport I think of him and wonder if his house is close to the field, or even one of the two next to the end of 25. I wish I better remembered the time I saw him speak in Sacramento. I bet if one of our senior members had thought to ask him, he’d have come to McClellan AFB and spoken to our Civil Air Patrol Cadet Squadron (12). That would sure have been a great experience. This is a wonderful book and a really interesting telling of an amazing life, really well lived. “Aviation Spoken Here”
