Game Theory is a bit over the top, but, it kept my attention.
Katerina Carter is a forensic accountant and fraud investigator. After testifying at her billionaire client’s divorce case, Zachary Barron asks Kat to investigate his partner in business for fraud. While investigating Zachary’s father, Nathan, his business partner, Kat’s life gets a bit crazy. Her uncle Harry shows signs of advanced Alzheimer’s and has her running to appointments, her narcissistic cousin returns causing more financial issues for her uncle and her reporter boyfriend Jace is fired from his job.
There are so many storylines going on in Game Theory that it becomes a bit jumbled up. Colleen Cross builds each character giving them personality and depth, however, I found some of the personalities didn’t quite follow through. Forensic accountants tend to be very analytical and the same for a fraud investigator, so some of the conversations Kat has seemed illogical and not putting obvious clues together was a bit frustrating for this reader.
Petrea Burchard does a very nice job narrating this story. Her character voices were done well and were distinctive enough that the listener knew exactly who was speaking.
I will definitely listen to another book Colleen Cross and Petrea Burchard.
