Shrek is an ogre. ogres are like onions. onions have layers. this book has layers.

seriously you need to read it like three times or listen to it three times too get all the little nuances because the more you read it the more you understand and the more little things that you think are said flippantly are actually important. for instance there is a particular line that feels like a throwaway line in the first few chapters of the book, and you realize that it wasn’t a throwaway line, it was a foreshadowing toward the very end of the book that was completely unexpected. that’s just one of the dozens and dozens.
