After finishing the second book I couldn’t go further with the series and wish I never would have purchased this book. This book would never have been published before digital format became popular because no one would have taken the time to buy the second book. It would make a decent first part of a longer book.

The story line is pretty standard. The magic is slightly imaginative, but you never quite understand what exactly everyone can do. The main character is likable, but not captivating. This felt as if the author was trying to get the point across as quickly as possible. Major plot points seemed to written into a paragraph or two and then the story quickly moves on. I had to go back and listen to sections multiple times to figure out exactly what changed the story so much so quickly.

I don’t understand the large amount of positive reviews when there are sooooo many outstanding books in the genres this book is trying to fit into.

I did ,however, enjoy Travis Baldree’s narration. I don’t believe I have listened to him before and I will be looking for his name on future purchases.

Definitely not worth the credits you would have to use to get to the point where this series becomes interesting.
