This book should not be read until you have read through book 10 in the Omega Force series. It will spoil the entire universe up to that point. you could read this series and not OF, but I imagine it’d get confusing a lot. I made this mistake after trying to find out of it was the same universe and failing to find anything, nor was there a warning from the author in the book. Poor planning to be sure.

I don’t want to spoil anything, but just know if you like the Omega Force books, you’ll love this as well. No where does the author tell new readers, but the order of Omega Force and Scout Fleet books is specific, and every book in each series will spoil events in the other if read out of order…again, not sure why JD would do this and not warn readers at the beginning of each book.

The order: Omega Force 1-10, this book, OF 11, SF 2, and so on alternating. This is the ONLY way not to have the major plots in one book completely spoiled by another.

I hadn’t started with Omega Force and figured out half way through this book that there was too much detail about these other people and events that they must be spoilers. I knew much of what was going to happen in OF up to book 10 from only half of this book, so it really took away from much of the OF story for me. Can’t say it enough, I don’t know how JD didn’t think to address this.
