I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to show my appreciation for Matt Dinniman and SoundBooth Theatre.
TLDR: Buy this book!
First of all, the production on this audiobook is truly next level. The attention to detail is incredible. The immersion it provides is quite literally unparalleled in the audiobook realm. They have brought this series to life in such an amazing way. A huge thank you to SoundBooth Theatre for going so far above and beyond.
Secondly, Jeff Hays is a remarkable narrator. Considering the huge and diverse cast of characters in this series, he does an incredible job of giving each a unique voice and character.
And lastly, Matt Dinniman. Honestly when I first bought Dungeon Crawler Carl, I wasn’t expecting too much. I was just running out of audiobooks to listen to. Now, this series is one of my favourites. I love everything about this world, the characters, and the story that Matt has created. There is this fantastic balance of insanity and humanity. Dystopian sci-fi versus the triumph of the human spirit. The love of a human and their pet. All with witty, punchy humour laced through moments of despair and loss.
I can count on one hand the books that have made me laugh AND cry. I’m glad to say that this is one of them.
