I am struggling to finish, but I will finish because it’s important to my son. I usually love everything to do with Norse Mythology, Vikings, Asutru, etc…, but this book sounds like the Author was struggling to finish this book! He sounds like a Christian college professor with a holier-than-thou attitude. He sounds like he is actually laughing at the beliefs of the people he writing about. I actually wonder why the author wrote this book? He wants to officially look down on people from a historical viewpoint?Smetimes it’s actually very offensive. For example: The Asutru Religion that he makes so much fun of, is still alive today. Real people believe in, and practice it today. And yes, real people still believe in magic and still use runes. There is also a thriving community of people who practice Druidry.

Maybe part of my reticence to continue is the horrible narrator. I get the feeling from him that every other word is somehow distasteful in his mouth. Either that or he genuinely has never heard of any of this subject matter and so struggles to articulate every word that deals with this subject. All in all, not a good book to learn about Norse Mythology from.
