I’m finally writing a review after finishing book 6. Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this series to fall off and disappoint me, but I just can’t see that happening anymore.

First off, the author is wildly creative. I’ve laughed (which was the author’s intention) and been very impressed by the classes presented during the story. Vape Shop Counter-Jockey and Former Child Star, for example, should give some indication of the breadth, depth and irreverence on display. The worlds, or rather levels, are equally creative. They’re well presented and function almost as characters of their own, presenting challenges and opportunities in ways that really have no peer in this genre.

The voice acting is just amazing. I was completely blown away in book 6 when Jeff Hays was singing, as a female cat, deliberately off key at first and improving as the cat got better at singing. Just… …. I don’t know. I can’t find a superlative that fits. So many different characters are presented in a natural manner, unique and consistent. His presentation feeds so well into the mad humour of the characters desperate situation.

I can’t recommend these books enough. They don’t just add to the genre. They take it to another level, and I hope that some future young author gives this series and chance and is inspired by the freewheeling creativity on display.
