A sweet daddy/boy story with more depth than expected. It’s a light entertaining read with enough character development to keep you interested, and the audio is on point. Ryman’s depiction of Ben and Jayden is adorable.

I very rarely would pick a story with an ex-military character because often those stories are often darker, more angsty, and that particular brand of angst isn’t usually my thing; however, Colette manages to capture trauma (loss of limb) and PTSD without it feeling overly angsty and uses it to move the character dynamics forward. Jayden is sweet with a bit more of a backbone at times than expected – just enough to keep it interesting. If you’re looking for a sweet daddy/little Christmas story including traditional and chosen family, low angst, good writing, great and the feels, this one is for you. Honestly, this sweet story was just the thing I didn’t know I needed right now.
