I honestly couldn’t wait for this book to be over. About 80% of the way through I almost couldn’t even make myself trudge to the end. It was a struggle the whole way through. Despite what some people say, that this book is some enlightening regard for people in poor circumstances to cling to whatever they can to make it through, is bullsh*t. This book is troubling. If the author had MAYBE set the timing where the main character was like 16….it would have made more sense. But the author wrote this book by starting the main character as 6 years old….and that’s where it the trouble starts. Sorry – I understand teenagers falling for a boy several years older than them, even without having a bad upbringing…..but this was just too much. Call it what you want, but this story was just unnecessary – I’m actually still so puzzled why the author even thought about beginning this book with the main character SO YOUNG. It’s disgusting if you ask me. Skip this book – I promise you can go your whole life without reading this book and be just fine – totally pointless.

However, the narrator of this book is FANTASTIC. I plan to listen to more books she narrates…..I think I feel sorry that the narrator had to say the filthy things in this book. I can’t imagine – I’d be like “sorry, I’m out”…..Bryn Greenwood needs some help.
