Only read/listen to this book if you can handle high levels of snark! Not sure Felix can have a proper conversation without it.
This second chance story is slightly different than most in that you get both stories in full…the before, and, well, AFTER. So you really knew the characters by the time you got to the second chance, and you probably had taken sides by then.
I have to admit to being on Team Max. Lovely Max whose life is at a crossroads. Confused, lost, and clinging to what he knows. He’s not quite in the right place to realize what he actually feels. Granted, Max is also my type (slightly wounded and enigmatic) so I may be a little biased. LOL. But when Max gets a second chance, he’s not going to waste it. And let me say, any man who wants to woo me like Max…I will not fight you!
These two bring fit together beautifully, with just enough differences to compliment the other and still bring some excitement to the table.
“There, leaning against a pile of my books like a present for me, was the man I now know is the love of my life.”
Close proximity, so many interrupted conversations, and some meddling friends lend to this exuberant story and a particularly lovely ending.
This was my first Joel Leslie narration, I can understand why folks love him, he does a wonderful job. He is quite adept at distinguishing not just voices but personalities too and is really great at bringing the story to life. I also enjoy getting the full English/accent experience that you don’t always get by reading. The British do snark like no other!
