The reviews have made a point on hating Zach, I agree with all of them. But let’s clarify the stat pages. Some are 15min long. 15min of stats, some vary between 6 and 8min on average at the end of each and every chapter. dear God that gets rough.
the death of Ryun’s friend felt meaningless. Zach didn’t care most of his few friends are now dead. He literally chooses to “fix” a serial killer while dismissing his friend and ignoring the atrocities his government committed.
And what is with these side characters? the other gods? what eas their point? none of them have had an impact on the characters and probably won’t for a long while.
the monster Swarm, they knew they were gonna be betrayed but yet made no preparation for it? they even openly stated they knew they’d get attacked. but they did nothing. seriously, that is what made me want to return the book, the author should be happy that I had even worse books to return and hit my limit.
and to the person claiming this is like GRRM? no, just no. stop that. I may not like GRRM for holding out a book for a decade, but Ivan isn’t half the writer that GRRM and his characters aside from Ryun are one dimensional sheets of paper with even less interesting features.
