The writing gets tedious when you have to listen to the level/stats of NPC’s being listed out in a long string. Five goblin warriors, three goblin workers, named goblin warrior. All listed out with each stat. The costs of building stuff listed out a dozen times. Those, many, parts were paid fully tedious.

The MC is unimaginative and I didn’t find him endearing at any point. His reactions to things are often contradictory to something just covered a few lines before.
The MC’s companion is annoying through the whole book.

The world building has some concepts that are interesting. But a lot of that is drowned by the tedium of listing numbers or how much the MC doesn’t have much imagination in how to engage with a game system they dedicated years to playing.
