What did you love best about Femme?
Sassy, sharp-tongued Lionel does not go for straight acting guys like Dog, even though they shared a great night, and Dog is kind of cute when he apologizes, and he can be really sweet when he wants to and…. But there is no way Lionel is going to fall for him… Is there?
Oh, this was so funny. It is difficult to imagine two characters more different than Lionel and Dog. Lionel is as camp as they come, he’s out and proud and… Loud. He works as a bartender in a gay bar, where Doug (Dog) and his softball team go to drink after the matches. That’s how they meet, and they share a crazy, alcohol induced night at Lionel’s apartment. From the very first moment, their relationship is full of misunderstandings, false moves, interrupted dates, parental interferences and all sort of messed-up situations. Dog is kind of dense, and he keeps making the most horrible mistakes but he’s really cute when he tries to apologize, I guess that’s why Lionel finds it so hard to resist him…
Joel’s narration was simply superb. His rendition of the dialogues between Lionel and Dog is hilarious, talk about bringing characters to life. He had me laughing aloud most of the book! I really enjoyed the main character’s interactions, and also the secondary characters like Carlos… Listening to this audiobook was so much fun!
