The author draws connections on what could have happened rather than hard evidence. He acknowledges that much of the details cannot be known, but still draws conclusions. A full chapter relies heavily on handwriting analysis, which has failed to be scientifically validated time and again. I feel for Hodel in the loss of his father and his need to understand this distant man, and he could very easily be onto something. His argument, however, is not convincing because of a lack of direct evidence, faulty correlations, and logical fallacy. It was genuinely painful for me to listen to this book.
