Opium den or private asylum treatment for addiction?

At the beginning, John is somewhat despondent because he has no new assignments since leaving the Bow Street Runners. Despite his pregnant wife’s fears, he takes on a case involving a young woman whose brother has been scammed into believing that a rather unsavory asylum can help her. Instead, John is lead to and sent to the depths of despair, including becoming to opium himself! The portrait of situational depression and opioid addiction as all too realistically presented.

Joel Froomkin continues to be the voice actor extraordinaire who is character interpreter and the very essence of John Pickett.
