I wanted to like this story better than I did. Having recently read a couple of other similar series, I was ready to tuck in with another great one. This one’s a good one. It’s got some cool ideas and a few twists that made it fun. I’ll also read all the way through the entire series (at least I’m expecting to at this point). But compared to some other series of the same genre out there, this one was just a little lacking for me.

The plot pacing is not particularly tight, which leaves a little “drift” time for my over-taxed mind. While many of the characters are interesting, they often have a bit of a two-dimensional quality to them. The chemistry and tension between Eve and Asher is almost tangible, and purely delicious–definitely the best part of the story.

This first book in the series is not a stand alone and features a cliff-hanger ender that will have you reaching for book two.
