it was so hard finish and I kept spacing out. I couldn’t tell if the story was bad or the voice was bad. I don’t know if each made the other worse. The entire plot had a lot of great ideas, but how McKenzie Hunter implemented them was lacking at best. I loved the idea of being a half undead half magical girl half werewolf, but it just seemed to make her more and more unbelievable as a character. Pick one attribute and stick with it. Don’t just dangle a few in front of the reader and have her decide that no she’s going to ignore it. It was like she was almost a self insert. I kind of was hoping Skylar would kill herself by the last few chapters. Her character didn’t grow or develop at all. Granted that it is the first of the series, but making her less whiny and pissy about her situation and allowing her to change would have been better. Plus the sexual tension between her and Ethan felt so nonexistent and made it more awkward that Josh was commenting on it. It felt like this pack adopted a Mary Sue little sister and are forced to deal.
