What made the experience of listening to Beauty and the Beast: A Real Life Fairytale the most enjoyable?
I received a copy of this audiobook from the author with a request for an honest review. I have to say that the title confused me a bit right off the bat: was it a “real life” true story or a work of fiction? It turned out, indeed, to be a short novel, with Beauty being a modern day hairdresser who, together with her father, has endured a string of bad luck. The “Beast” turned out to be someone she had been dimly aware of in high school who had then, himself, gone through some bad luck. He never really seemed “beast”-like, and while this was a short book, their insta-love, after just a short period of re-aquaintance, was a bit hard to swallow. An “inspirational” message was thrown in at the end, and this together with a dearth of any real physical intimacy between the two lovers should definitely place it in the inspirational category. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a quick escape. The audio performance was well done.
