Loved the concept, but hated the delivery. Reads like a Lifetime Movie of the Week: “Women Good, Men Bad.” I felt for Nellie. No one should have to endure an abusive spouse, but I found the primary protagonist to be unsympathetic. Yes, her husband was wrong for not considering her feelings more, but honestly she was selfish, deceitful, and irrational. A marriage built on getting your own way and steamrolling your spouse is no marriage at all.
Author communicates the message that a truly strong woman prefers to be alone.and self sufficient. Men only hinder a woman’s true happiness. I found this very sad.
